Built in 1850 as a traditional thatched "blackhouse", and tastefully refurbished, this cottage retains much of its original charm, with low ceilings, 2 multi-fuel stoves, exposed rafters and solid stone walls that are 2 feet thick.

Located 10 minutes walk from Big Sand Beach, pictured below, and has stunning views overlooking the Torridon Mountain Range, the Isle of Skye and the Outer Hebrides. A perfect location for getting away from it all and just relaxing, or for using as a base to sample the many outdoor activities in the area.

Big Sand (or Sanda as it was known) has been a small fishing and crofting community for decades and several examples of the remains of ancient roundhouses, dry stane dykes and turf boundary walls can still be found on the hills above the village. Today, Big Sand consists of a small quiet community of approx. 40 well spaced out houses, 3 miles from the fishing village of Gairloch, in Wester Ross, on the North West coast of Scotland.
